Singing Workshops

Deirdre’s speciality is  traditional Irish singing workshops in English and Irish (Gaelic) with an emphasis on Munster songs (Munster is the South west region of Ireland).

She is internationally recognised as one of Ireland’s finest singers in the tradition and an in-demand workshop leader and presenter in Ireland, the US and internationally. She is also an in-demand adjudicator for national competitions for Comhaltas Ceolteóirí Éireann.

She has also lectured widely on Traditional Irish singing styles and techniques.

She has been a primary/grade school teacher for two decades and as a professional teacher by trade is in a perfect position to convey her experience and knowledge of Irish traditional singing and songs.

Her workshops and lectures range from 1 hour talks and demonstrations, to half day, one day and one week presentations and offerings.

She has mentored and coached accomplished adults in repertoire, style and technique for many years both in Ireland and abroad. Some previous festivals include, Scoil Éigse at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Feakle Festival, The Geordie Hanna Traditional Singing Weekend and Milwaukee Irish Fest. 

Currently Deirdre is teaching traditional singing to students of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick.
